About us

The group was originally set up by Miranda Boers. She found herself a little isolated when she moved to a small village just outside Gouda. After joining several expat groups in The Hague, she felt that they were aimed specifically at the “expat community” and she decided to start a group for foreigners living in Holland with their Dutch partner.

What is the group all about:
The aim of the group is to help the people get their social life started once they moved to The Netherlands, find their own way and friends and escape the sad isolation period when partner's friends are your only people outside your home and no one seems to understand the way you feel about the new country, new ways of doing things and etc. You also get the wisdom and experience of the ones who are in The Netherlands for longer and know where to get this, how to apply for that - cleaning ladies, babysitters, job opportunities, good family doctors, schools and so on are shared ;-)

“Living with a Dutchie” has grown exponentially in the last few years with groups in Gouda and Rotterdam. Each group operates independently and organizes activities suited to their membership.
